Odyssey Marine has located the SS Gairsoppa 300 miles off the coast of Ireland. A German U-Boat sunk the British cargo ship in 1941, leaving only one survivor. Odyssey has a contract with the British government under which they will receive 80% of the recovery value of the cargo.
As was the case with the Black Swan (in all likelihood the Nuestra Senora de las Mercedes), Odyssey will use advanced robotics and remotely operated vehicles to recover the cargo, given the depth.
